January Calendar with the 14th Circled

Ready or Not…Here January Comes

As you’ve likely heard, in January 2020, Microsoft will end all support services for Server 2008 and Windows 7. These products have been in Microsoft’s limited support phase for a while now. As of January 14th, 2020, all of Microsoft’s technical support, software updates, and security updates for Server 2008 and Windows 7 will fully cease.

So…What Does this Mean for Your Dental Practice?

Since Microsoft’s support and security patches for Windows 7 and Server 2008 are ending, if any vulnerabilities are found with these systems, Microsoft will not release patches or security updates. Unsupported systems are more vulnerable to malicious attacks. If you are a medical professional still using Windows 7 or Server 2008 in your dental practice, you need to upgrade your systems prior to January 14th, 2020 to reduce the impending risk of HIPAA breaches and non-compliance.
